Can’t wait to show more images from their awesome wedding!
As evidenced by their e-session, Jay + Sara are pretty awesome and from the moment I met then, I was excited for their wedding. So I knew I was in for a treat when I showed up at Sara’s parents’ home to start the day. Throughout the day, I traveled from Lakeside to South Park to Balboa Park to the Admiral Kidd Club, but the miles were totally worth it as I shot some of my favorite images I’ve ever created. The day was filled with so much love from the bride and groom, their families and their friends. As a special surprise, I discovered that Sara’s “Favorite Aunt Maggie” was actually my 3rd grade teacher! Everyone was so sweet, that by the time the reception was underway, I felt like I was one of the family.
Venue: Admiral Kidd Club
Music: Vince “DJ Phreek” Pham

Sara + Jay with Favorite Aunt Maggie!!!

Jay + Sara, thank you so much for letting Helene and me spend time with you on your amazing wedding day. It was so special and so much fun. Congratulations to you both!

Sara + Jay’s wedding was an amazing way to start the new year. It set the bar high as far as weddings go, from the beautiful weather (in January, even!!), to the gorgeous locations we took photos, to the giddy happiness everyone felt just watching the bride and groom together. I can’t wait to show the rest of the wedding, but in the meantime, here is a teaser I just couldn’t resist posting! And three cheers to my second shooter, Helene! She is awesome and I wouldn’t have had nearly as much fun without her.

I’ve already talked about Ci & Del’s wedding here and here, but I have one more post to share. When Ciara and I were talking about what she envisioned for her wedding, she brought up the idea of a photobooth. It was something we both had seen, but I had never attempted. Lucky for me, she talked me into trying it and it was a hit!! Ciara brought props including pink feather fans and homemade moustaches-on-sticks and all the guests really had a good time with it. Although it was initially scheduled to run an hour, after 45 minutes in, my lightbulb popped! Next time, I’ll be sure to bring backup bulbs…

I’m going to start offering the photobooth on a regular basis… it’s a great way to get photos of your guests at your reception, without getting trampled on the dance floor.
I know I already wrote up a post on some of the time I was able to spend with Ciara on her wedding day, but now it’s time… on to the rest of the photos!
The wedding was on a gorgeous day in October at the very chic Oviatt Penthouse. Deborah James & Nikki Keller from Bella Vita Events made sure everything was perfect. Sandra Pan was my sanity and inspired 2nd shooter. And the beautiful flowers were provided by Ricci Events. With a team like this behind the scenes, I knew the wedding was going to be chic and elegant, just like Ci & Del.
However elegant though, the bride and groom made sure to make it their own. Which means that in addition to everything above, the wedding was a small, intimate gathering of close friends and family, most who helped with the wedding plans along the way. There were also homemade “moustaches-on-a-stick” and a photobooth like no other (stay tuned for the next post!).
All in all, it was a perfect celebration of love, friends, family, and beauty.
Here are a few of my favorite shots of the day…
