Married! // Jen + Eric

IMG_5142

Way back in June, the tables were turned when I second shot for the fabulous Dylan Mayer at the Summit House in Fullerton, CA for Jen + Eric’s wedding.  It was a beautiful backdrop for a super fun couple and their families.  I spent most of my time with the girls, while Dylan hung out with the guys, so I apologize in advance for a post that is light on the testosterone.  :)

The bridal party got ready at the bride’s beautiful family home…

Then we were off to the Summit House!  Jen + Eric decided to see each other before the ceremony and take the majority of the photos at that time as well, so they could relax and enjoy cocktail hour with their guests afterward.  It was a bit overcast for parts of the day, so we were able to shoot practically anywhere we wanted.

The rest of the night consisted of one part toasting the new couple, one part delicious meal, and two parts dancing the night away…

One thing that really made this wedding unique was when the captain told everybody – especially the bride and groom – to head out to the top deck.  He then announced that there would be fireworks that night – almost directly over our heads.  It was so amazing to have that kind of front row seat….

Married! // Matt + Deborah (Part I)

Matt & Deb came all the way back from Jolly Old England to have their gorgeous wedding in sunny San Diego.  New to me was shooting on a beautiful San Diego Harbor Excursion yacht out at sea.  Not new to me was shooting with the uber-fabulous Dylan Mayer.  Because the yacht has a very finite amount of space, the intimate group of friends and family that attended the wedding made everything that much more meaningful.  It also meant that there was A LOT of dancing and celebrating going on to ring in the new couple as a newly-minted Mr. & Mrs.!

We started out the day at Trinity Episcopal Church in Escondido.  While Deb got ready in a small library with her mom and attendants, Dylan hung out with the guys…

The church was beautiful… all stained glass windows and soaring ceilings.  We took a few photos before heading down to the harbor…

Down at the harbor, we boarded the yacht and I immediately started shooting.  Surrounded by an endless sea and illuminated by gorgeous sunshine, I was once again reminded of how much I love my job.  :)

Nicole + Josh // Married!!

Nicole and Josh are super rad.  And super rad people deserve a super long blog post.  It’s a rule somewhere, I think.

Anyone who knows Nicole & Josh’s story knows that their courtship was a bit unique.  And anyone who knows them would expect nothing less from their wedding.  No stuffy traditions.  No pomp and circumstance.  Nothing tacky or gaudy.  Their wedding was simply a celebration… of the beginning of their lives together and the gathering of friends and family.  It was beautiful and sweet and totally them.

Of course, I had none other than Dylan Mayer shooting with me to capture all the not-to-be-missed details and moments…

Nicole paid special attention to the gorgeous details, creating an organic vibe that included not only her decor, but also her bouquet.

Nicole & Josh decided to see each other before the ceremony.  It was such an intimate time and gave them a chance to have a few moments alone before the rest of the festivities began.  It also gave us some time to do a few of the formal photos so they could enjoy their cocktail hour after the ceremony!IMG_0989

Let’s Celebrate! Brinn Turns 1!

The day after Brinn’s session, her family celebrated her birthday. Her mom was a little concerned with the stormy weather and moved all the activities inside as a precaution, but it sooned cleared up and we had sunshine streaming through the abundant windows of the clubhouse where the party was held.

Brinn’s parents, Ed & Stacie, went all out for the festivities. Dad’s delicious cooking brought the guests back for second and even third helpings while Mom’s decorations delighted the children.

And the best part? They brought in Music for Kids to entertain the littlest guests. The kids thought it was the greatest thing since peanut butter & jelly! They had so much fun!

Even the parents had a good time. They laughed at the antics of their children and had a chance to catch up with friends and family.

And, finally the moment we were all waiting for… presenting the Birthday Girl with her cake!

Brinn had a mountain of presents to open, but luckily Mom and Dad were on hand to help her out…

Thanks for inviting me to share in Brinn’s big day! I had so much fun… with all the music and candy and yummy cake, how could I not? Happy 1st birthday, Brinn!
