The Volden Family

IMG_0888
You may remember Brittany and Sydney from a while back… a beautiful mother & daughter of whom I managed to get a few frames in a mini-session.  Her husband, Jason, loved the images, but was super bummed not to be in any of them with his two favorite girls.  So they scheduled a session with me  to get some photographs with their WHOLE family for their home.

Brittany and Jason brought a friend to watch Sydney so we could get a few of just the two of them…

Brinn & Family… One year later!

Some of you may remember little Brinn from her newborn session. Being that she was born three weeks early, she was so tiny – small enough to fit into one of Dad’s baseball caps. Fast forward a year and you will find one of the happiest little girls ever to grace this earth. She loves to explore the world around her and she has one of the biggest, most infectious grins I’ve ever seen. On the morning of Brinn’s birthday, we headed over to Old Town, Temecula to commemorate her special day.

Brinn has some of the longest lashes I’ve ever seen! And those baby blues are a heartstopper for sure!

For Brinn’s birthday, her parents went all out. Mom even planned this awesome Candy Bar with all kinds of neat treats for the guests. For the shoot, they presented Brinn with the most perfect lollipop I’ve ever seen. However, it didn’t stay perfect for long!

And, last but definitely not least, one of the whole family…

Congratulations on one whole year of being a family! Stay tuned for a post about Brinn’s party… it was awesome!

And new baby makes five!

My recent trip to Utah was a last-minute decision, but one that I was so happy about it working out. I got to see my (not so little anymore) brother Jared and his sweet, sweet family, including my newest nephew, Carson. I was thrilled to be there for Carson’s blessing, but being able to spend some time with my family made it even more special. Jared’s wife, Tanya, gets mad props for her fantastic baking skills and keeping my tummy stuffed with cookies. We went sledding, we watched movies, and we talked and laughed way past my regular bedtime. Thanks for being such wonderful hosts!

While I didn’t take too many pictures during the weekend, I made it a point to get a few of little Carson… and by a few I mean that I had about a half hour as I had mistaken my departure time and the relaxing afternoon I had planned turned into a very frantic hour or so. Usually newborn sessions are quiet and take as long as Baby needs to settle down and fall asleep. This time we had all the kids in the room playing, about six adults and a very wide awake newborn. It made for an unconventional session, but I think it fits my brothers’ family more than the traditional way.

As the resident big sister, Caitlin loves to snuggle with her new little brother…

This last one is special in that now all three of their children have been photographed in this blessing outfit with this handmade blanket. They already had a frame for this shot…

Thank you so much for letting me come and hang out with you guys! I can’t wait to see you all again this summer! :)

Family Session: The Garrisons

Someday soon, I will get through all of my Seattle/Portland trip pictures. I promise. They won’t keep popping up at the strangest times… like, say, 6 months after I’ve returned to California. I think I even may be able to wrap them all up this week! *fingers crossed*

In the middle of my trip to Seattle in October, I couldn’t stand it anymore and decided to drive down to my beloved Portland, Oregon. I was so glad I went! While I was only there a short while, I was able to visit with some of my favorite people, including my cousin David and his sweet family. I would have loved to hang out with them regardless, but this time was extra special because they recently welcomed little Balin into their world. I asked if I could spend a couple hours with them and photograph them as a new family of four.

As a side note, when I arrived at their home and was looking for the best available light, I went out to the backyard. They apologized that it was so overgrown and started telling me about the home improvement projects they had in store for the space. I had to laugh because it was PERFECT the way it was. The light was magical, everything was green and wild and it was beautiful. I was so glad they hadn’t had a chance to change it yet. :)

Newborn Session: Olivia

My sweet little niece, Olivia, was born on election day. Amid all the excitement and hope and push for change in this country, she entered the world, tiny and perfect. My SIL went through labor like a champ and nearly as quickly as it began, it was over. I was lucky enough to be in the hospital shortly after Olivia was born, but we scheduled another session for a few days later, when things had quieted down.

Without further ado, I present Olivia Morgan and her very, very happy family. :)
