Just one from today…

From Shaun & Shelly’s engagement session…

The Lemon Grove Session

These last couple of months, I have met some pretty awesome women. They are strong, they are gorgeous, they are fun, and they are NOT afraid to have their picture taken. It doesn’t get any better than that.

In April, my friend Annalisa asked if I would be interested in playing a part in a Mother’s Day surprise for her mom, Judy. Of course, I was super excited to be included in the big plan. Anna and her sisters (5 of them altogether) decided to get all the sisters together (including flying one of them over from Texas), surprising Mom with her unexpected guest and then holding a weekend of activities that centered around all 6 of these women being together. I was scheduled to meet them on Friday morning for a photoshoot that would commemorate the occasion.

When Anna and I first started talking about where to have the session, we initially agreed on a nature preserve near her house. When she mentioned that her parents’ house was backed by a large lemon grove, I immediately changed the location. IT WAS SOOOOOO AWESOME!!! I cannot stress how much fun it was to hang out with this close-knit family and watch them just be together. Of course, there was a lot of laughing… but there were also moments when I saw these amazing emotional connections between mother and daughter and between the sisters. It was so cool. Plus, that lemon grove is my new favorite place to shoot. Bonus!

It was so difficult to narrow down my favorite images, but here a few…

One of the requests was to get a couple of photos of Mom and Dad together as they are about to celebrate their 44th wedding anniversary!

Then Dad was asked to kindly go keep himself busy while the women got down to business! HA! (BTW, Dad is a super talented Master Sculptor who crafts everything from beautiful bowls to modern art. I loved checking out all the work displayed in his home – amazing!)

You didn’t think I would miss out on getting the lemons in the photos, did you? I didn’t think so…

This was about the time the Lemon Fight started. Yikes!

Dad wanted in on the fun. This shot cracks me up.

Thank you so much to Judy, Rana, Kaia, Emily, Carol, and Al. And of course, thank you to Annalisa for setting up the session and showing me my new favorite place to shoot. I haven’t laughed that hard in a long time.Â:)

Sister Session: Kristi + Kim

I first met Kristi when I worked with her at Bonnie & Sean’s wedding in Phoenix, AZ. Kristi Pohly is the owner of Fleur Decor in Denver, Colorado and provided the beautiful bouquets and boutonnieres for the event. When she said she would be in town and wanted to do a session with her sister, I jumped at the chance to hang out with her again.

Kristi & her sister Kim were so much fun to wander around Balboa Park with. We joked and talked and laughed while I dragged them all over the Park and made them sit and stand and generally “look fierce.” And while they are happy to have some updated family photos, Kim & Kristi also needed head shots for a new business venture! Congrats to you and your new business and thank you for a lovely afternoon!

Wedding in the Vineyard – Jennifer & Scott

A couple weeks ago, I shot a gorgeous wedding at Ponte with my friend Michele for Honey Stetson-Photographer. The weather was perfect and the grounds were beautiful. But the best part was Jennifer and Scott. They were so laid-back – after being together for 10 years, nothing could faze them on this long-awaited day. And though the day would have been perfection right there, the icing on the cake was Scott’s restored classic car – painted a gorgeous red especially for the day. Of course we had to get a few (alright, a lot!) photos of that…

Here are a few of my favorite images from the day…

Congratulations, Jennifer & Scott! Thank you so much for letting me be a part of your special day. Happy Honeymooning!!

I love it when…

…the image turns out exactly as I imagined. Couldn’t wait to post this one from yesterday’s engagement session. More images soon!
